About Me

Yvonne Gonzales is studying all facets of media fandom and fan culture at the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism. She is particularly interested in the places where fandom and fan practices intersect with offline and civic life—in spaces of race, gender, sexuality, and affective politics. Fandom is a way in which we personally involve ourselves in the dominant media landscape, so what does it mean to love or hate in the ways that we do, especially when it’s done with others in a community? What can fandom tell us about how we interact with our world?
